Technical University in Graz installed PMC/Bryston Monitoring

We are very proud to announce that Technical University in Graz , department Sound Engineering installed PMC monitoring in their main training studio. We installed PMC IB2 in cherry powered by Bryston PP300SST PowerPacks.

This fantastic university program is unique in this part of Europe and is divided into three stages of study of 2, 5 and 3 semesters. Courses are completed at Graz University of Technology and the University of Music and Dramatic Arts and have been put together taking industrial and economic requirements into account.

The first stage of study provides students with technical and scientific fundamentals (mathematics, physics, electronics, and computer science) as well as musical foundations and audio engineering/acoustics. Starting in the first semester students take ear training courses and have to take at least 5 semesters of a required subject in which they learn to play an instrument.

The second stage of study continues with the basic education and training in electrical engineering and music and consolidates subject areas with a special focus on sound engineering (communication engineering, signal processing, acoustic measurement techniques, instrumentation, recording studio equipment, audio cutting technique, electro-, room- and psycho-acoustics, digital audio engineering, electronic music etc.).

The third stage of study provides students with consolidation subjects and electives in order to find their individual focus and is also devoted to the diploma thesis. In this stage, students can choose from the following areas:

  • Information engineering (communication engineering, measurement techniques, technical computer science and electronics)
  • Acoustics and recording engineering (acoustics, audio engineering, multi-channel recording, sound reinforcement engineering, recording engineering etc.)
  • Signal processing and computer music (speech communication, acoustics and computer music, art and new media, aesthetics etc.)

A range of electives, from automotive acoustics to economic and legal subject areas, round off the programme. Project-related learning, self-organisation and time management are taken into consideration in the courses. A comprehensive project excellently prepares students not only for the diploma thesis but also gives them their first opportunity to get involved with the research activities of the institute. In addition, the practice-related curriculum leads to a decrease in the average length of studies.
